In 2014 we want to send a team to Tinca for the second time. The church we are working with serves a large Gypsy community. Families here struggle to get regular work and the so their living standard is very poor. With this in mind we made an appeal and received donations in 2013 that enabled us to provide lunch for the children who attended the holiday club.
Many houses here are small and give little protection from the extremes of the Romanian climate, which often reaches minus 30 degrees Celsius in the winter. Many homes in the community have no sanitation.
We again expect a large number of children to attend in 2014 and so we want to send a large UK team to work alongside an experienced Romanian team. Additional resources will be needed for the large number of children and also for the lunch-time food that we again hope to provide. We encourage all volunteers to raise funds to help towards these extra costs.
Following our visit in 2013 work is in progress to establish regular children and youth meetings through the year and youth leader training by our team in Petrosani. Pastor Gavril is passionate about bringing the gospel to his community and has been a church planting among Gypsy villages for 18 years. His vision is for the current church building to be extended so that he can provide food and other essential support so that children can go to school as families are often unable to provide even the basics required by schools.
