The Origin of Life to Romania Fund

Petrilla_Street02

The Romania Project was started by Crusaders following a collection for Romanian youth work taken at a Conference in October 1990. This donation was delivered the following February by Malcolm Langton representing Crusaders' International Committee. During the visit he was invited to organise a camp for Romanian young people in the summer.

Following a request for prayer throughout Crusaders, all the money and equipment was provided and a team of 12 ran a summer camp for 60 young Romanians at Voronet.

On 10th August 1991 there was a movement of the Holy Spirit in the camp and 47 youngsters met Jesus for the first time. Several of the camp leaders resolved to return the next year with the objective of helping the Romanian leaders develop a ministry to young people.

A Mission Blessed by God

Over the years Hundreds of summer camps and holiday clubs have been held in Romania.  Thousands of Romanian children have heard about Jesus and come to know Him.

Many Romanians are now using new skills in Christian youth work, in fact a number of the Romanian young people we have worked with have become evangelical pastors or active in Christian youth work themselves.

An indigenous Christian youth organisation 'Cristia' has been established in Romania which is now fully independent of the UK.  Cristia has a permanent campsite in Voronet which now has chalets and sports amenities.  Romanian Christians have taken leadership of camps and clubs Cristia clubs have been set up by Romanians to reach out and disciple young people.

Life2Romania has a permanent field worker based in Petrosani who’s role is to train and disciple youth leaders and enable churches to grow their youth and children’s ministries.  This work has been very successful and continues to grow.

Hundreds of UK Volunteers and Romanian have helped with camps and clubs in Romania.

Volunteers from the UK and Romania who go with the intention of teaching and training others have been surprised and amazed by the way in which God has used the opportunity to change and challenge them also.
